To make this Golden Milk With Coconut Milk (VEGAN )recipe…
Simply heat turmeric, cinnamon, ginger, black pepper in your coconut oil for one to two minutes, then add the coconut milk and agave, date paste or your favorite sweetener in a small saucepan. This Turmeric and Coconut Milk is nutritious and can provide many health benefits. It is easy to make and is vegetarian.
you can even order golden milk made with an assortment of different milks: almond milk, cashew milk, oat milk, and coconut milk. BUT THE FRUITINESS OF THE COCONUT MILK BRIGHTENS UP THE EARTHY TASTE OF TURMERIC.
INGREDIENTS
- 1 cup coconut milk drink (see notes if you want to use canned coconut milk)
- 1 teaspoon extra virgin coconut oil
- 1/2 teaspoon ground turmeric
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/8 teaspoon ground ginger
- 1 pinch ground black pepper
- 1 teaspoon agave, maple syrup, coconut sugar.
INSTRUCTIONS
*In a small saucepan, heat the coconut oil over medium heat. Whisk in the ground turmeric, ground cinnamon, ground ginger and ground black pepper. Heat until the oil is warm, once you notice that everything starts to toast carefully add the milk, whisking frequently. Do not let the milk boil.
*lowly whisk in your sweetener of choice. I suggest starting with 1 teaspoon, and adding more as desired. You can remove from heat immediately after the coconut milk is warmed and everything is whisked in, or you can allow the spices to seep for about 10 minutes on the stovetop, if desired.
*Remove from heat and pour into a mug. This is best enjoyed immediately, before the spices fully settle on the bottom. You may also want to serve this turmeric latte with a spoon so you can give it a gentle stir before each sip.
Something I often do when I want my milk to be a little thicker is to add 2 tablespoons of ground flaxseed into my spices.
